Bryan King believes Newcastle could pay Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin a £20million signing on fee.

The ex-Goodison scout believes the 27-year-old - who has been told to quit Everton - will be looking for "a big contract" at St James' Park.

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (29 December), Newcastle could put all their money into “a major contract offer” to sign Calvert-Lewin - who is out of contract in the summer - on a free transfer, with the Magpies reluctant to pay "a big fee" in January.

Therefore, King - speaking exclusively to Goodison News - thinks this could be quite a lucrative move for the Everton striker.

"Calvert-Lewin will be looking for a big contract," King said.

"Therefore, if he is going to move, this will be his big move. Wherever he goes, this will be his big move because there have been talks about him moving on for a while.

"If Newcastle do sign him on a free, it will be Calvert-Lewin who will get all the money. We're talking about a signing-on fee of as much as £20million for him."

Newcastle United to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Speculation around Calvert-Lewin's future has been swirling for some time now, with a surprise move to Leeds United having been mooted.

However, if Newcastle were to make an offer, that is likely where Calvert-Lewin would be most interested in moving. While the form of Alexander Isak might make it difficult for the Englishman to get into the first team, St James' Park is certainly a more attractive place to play than Goodison at the moment.

Therefore, if the Magpies do make Calvert-Lewin a substantial contract offer, it is hard to see the Everton striker turning that down in favour of a new contract on Merseyside.
