Calvert-Lewin transfer: Sean Dyche drops Everton contact update

Everton have not yet been contacted for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the January transfer window, Sean Dyche says.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Bournemouth clash [BBC Sport Merseyside, 2 January], the English manager revealed that no club have made an approach for the striker so far.

The 27-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and Atalanta are interested in him [Alfredo Pedulla, 2 January].

Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer uncertainty bad for Everton

Dyche has relied heavily on Calvert-Lewin in the current campaign, with the centre-forward starting in all but two Premier League matches.

The former Sheffield United star has struggled to find his feet this season, scoring just two goals and providing one assist.

Beto is the other option at the English manager’s disposal, but the Guinean has been underwhelming ever since his move from Udinese, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave in the winter window.

Armando Broja’s recent return from injury is a massive boost for Everton and Dyche.

The Albanian was on the sidelines for most of the first half of the campaign after signing on loan from Chelsea in the summer of 2024.

As things stand, Calvert-Lewin is the Toffees’ main number nine for the foreseeable future, but his contract situation is undoubtedly a concern for them.

While the English striker hasn’t been a reliable goalscoring outlet over the last few years, the Blues aren’t blessed with a wealth of talent in the position to allow him to leave.
