Sean Dyche could be sacked by The Friedkin Group very shortly at Everton, Jason Cundy has said.

Cundy hit out at the possible decision but shared his gut feeling following the 1-0 defeat at Bournemouth in the Premier League on 4 January.

However, live on talkSPORT (4 January, 18:15), the former Chelsea and Tottenham man claimed the Friedkins could be tempted to dispense with their experienced manager.

Cundy told co-host Jamie O'Hara: "I can't help but think the new owners are going to make a change.

"They've got the best man for the job to keep them in that league. Why would you change Sean Dyche?"

Everton will not be relegated under Sean Dyche

Everton fans' primary issue with Dyche's reign appears to be that his football is uninspiring, turgid at times and will not lift them higher than this.

That is not strictly untrue, though it is unrealistic to suggest the Toffees with their current squad will mastermind an unthinkable run of form to push for Europe before May.

Consequently, to keep Dyche and maintain the stability mooted by the Friedkins upon their official arrival could be the most productive approach for this season, before reassessing in the summer.

It will not instil much excitement among the Gwladys Street faithful, but conversely, those exciting times are on hold until the first full season under the new regime, with their superb waterfront arena ready to host top-flight football.

January remains an integral month for business and will become more intriguing as the transfer market goes on, but granted, performances must improve.
