David Moyes has support as a contender to replace Sean Dyche as pressure grows over the Everton boss, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist reported via his Patreon [6 January] that The Friedkin Group are concerned hiring the Scot, who is open to the job [TEAMtalk], would be a step backwards as their first major move at Goodison Park, however.

Dyche is currently facing a battle to save his job on Merseyside, and with TFG considering an immediate change, the likes of Moyes and Graham Potter have emerged as potential successors.

It could be just a matter of days before Dyche is packing his bags at Goodison Park, with plenty of speculation swirling over who could replace him in the coming weeks.

With the team's current form on the pitch, it should be absolutely no surprise to the former Burnley man, but he is never going to admit that to the public or the media, of course.

The Toffees are one point above the relegation zone after 19 matches, having won just three games, and TFG are solely relying on three of Wolves, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton to be worse.

If a change is not made soon by the new owners, it could be too late for any manager to dig the club out of trouble, facing a terrible drop down to the Championship next season.

While Dyche is clearly not up to the task this season, it remains to be seen who is the ideal candidate to replace him at the helm, with Moyes seemingly a step backwards and Potter's playing style quite expansive.

Given the Toffees' summer transfer window, the new signings should help the team adapt to a rather different playing style, but it could be very risky to attempt that with so much on the line.
