Everton want to seal West Brom star transfer before February

Everton have “rekindled” their interest in West Brom winger Tom Fellows as they look to strengthen their squad, according to Daily Mail Sport.

The newspaper reported in its print edition (6 January, page 10) that the Toffees and Crystal Palace are keen on bringing in 21-year-old livewire Fellows before the winter window shuts on 3 February.

Fellows has previously been a player of interest to Evertonians, with this area of the pitch being a top priority in this transfer window.

Given where Sean Dyche’s side find themselves with the January window now open – 16th in the Premier League table and one point above the drop zone – reinforcements being needed is no surprise.

Having been unable to find the net in eight of their last 10 matches, it’s even less surprising that signing a forward and midfielder are the goal-shy Toffees’ top transfer priorities [Sky Sports, 1 January].

As one of the Championship’s most creative players with 10 assists already this term, Fellows is exactly the kind of player who could help the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to finally break his goal drought.

Dan Friedkin’s takeover finally gives the Blues some form of financial security going forward, but that doesn’t mean they can spend their January splashing the cash.

Fellows is the type of player that must be targeted, and as a 21-year-old with hue upward potential, the West Brom wide man could be one of the faces of Everton’s new era.
