Sean Dyche sack: David Moyes makes U-Turn as sources reveal Everton twist

Everton owners are considering David Moyes as a potential replacement for Sean Dyche, according to TEAMtalk.

The Scot has previously said that he is not interested in managing a club battling relegation, but the outlet, reporting via their website on 7 January, has been told by sources that he is “very interested” in returning to Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, the Merseyside-based club have held talks with Graham Potter about replacing Dyche and it, therefore, remains to be seen if they pursue a deal for Moyes.

David Moyes to manage Everton in Goodison Park final lap

Moyes was in charge of Everton for 11 years between 2002 and 2013. Although the Toffees did not win a trophy during that period, they had a great deal of joy under the Scot.

Considering the veteran tactician’s connection with the Merseyside outfit, there is probably not a better option than him to manage the club in Goodison Park’s final lap.

With the construction of the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium almost complete, the Premier League club are set to bid adieu to their historic home ground.

Add a relegation battle into the mix and the stage is set for Moyes to seal an emotional return.

The 61-year-old is currently without a job after leaving West Ham United at the end of last season and would be happy to replace Dyche.

Despite his age, Moyes is very much capable of achieving success with a top-flight team, as evidenced by his UEFA Conference League glory with the Irons in the 2022-23 season.

At Everton, his primary task would be to avoid relegation.
