Beto exit: Everton striker not in town as new Torino transfer twist emerges
Beto has not been “in town” despite Torino attempting to seal a deal with Everton for the out-of-form striker, according to Orazio Accomando.
The Italian journalist reported via his personal X account [7 January] that a move for the 26-year-old is difficult due to the engagement and distance in value between the two parties.
It is understood that the player has not been in Turin despite escaping the snow in Manchester earlier this week [Tuttosport], though his entourage is attempting to find the right deal for him.
Beto unlikely to secure Everton exit as Torino update emerges?
The one-goal striker has been linked with an exit even before the January transfer window opened, being pictured at Manchester Airport at the end of last week [The Toffee Blues X].
Given Sean Dyche’s team is mostly slacking in the final third, unless The Friedkin Group are planning on bringing a new figure into this squad this month, it does not seem sensible to get rid of him.
Obviously, with only one Premier League goal this season, he has been far from the ideal forward for the Blues, but so too have Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.
Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than the Toffees in the top flight of English football, highlighting just how bad of a situation the squad are in, sitting just one point above the dropzone.
The three strikers combine for three league goals this season, with Broja yet to get off the mark following his summer loan deal, so Everton cannot really afford to let Beto leave without a replacement.
Of course, a replacement would be very welcome at Goodison Park, but only if it is a proven player who has the potential to net double-digit goals in the second half of the season.
