Chris Sutton takes instant swipe at Everton as Sean Dyche sack announced
Chris Sutton has slammed Everton for sacking Sean Dyche just hours before the FA Cup clash against Peterborough United.
The Toffees announced that they had parted ways with the 53-year-old on 9 January which leaves them managerless for the third-round tie against the League One side.
It is safe to say that this has received mixed reviews from across the footballing world but former striker Sutton has taken to X (9 January) to take an instant swipe at the Goodison hierarchy.
He said: “Good plan that. Sean Dyche is better off out of it.”
Chris Sutton takes swipe at Everton after Sean Dyche sack
The news that the former Burnley had been sacked certainly came out of the blue on Thursday evening (9 January), especially with a game so close to the decision being made.
There is no doubt that the Englishman did an excellent job to compete in the Premier League and achieve safety at Goodison.
Given the points deductions and lack of transfer funds that Dyche had to work with, this was an achievement but this positivity hasn’t carried over into the current campaign.
Results have been very up and down, while performances have often been poor and boring which saw many fans turn after the defeat against Bournemouth.
It seemed that the Toffees boss was going to be given longer to turn things around when he remained in his job throughout the week.
For whatever reason, the hierarchy in L4 have opted to pull the sack trigger and as Sutton says, it probably is better for the former Watford man’s career that he has been let go.
