Sean Dyche sack: Richard Keys hits out at Everton developments
Richard Keys has slammed Everton for sacking Sean Dyche hours before the FA Cup clash with Peterborough United on Thursday.
The former Burnley manager was dismissed by the Blues on 9 January after a run of five Premier League matches without a win. [Sky Sports]
The Toffees sit just a point above the relegation zone in 16th place and the Friedkin Group gave Dyche his marching orders just hours before they face off against the League One side at Goodison Park.
The beIN Sports presenter was shocked by the news and reacted in a post on X, saying: “What is going on? Taxi for Dyche 3 hours before a game?”
Dyche probably deserved Everton sack
While Keys is correct, the timing of the decision is peculiar, the decision itself is the right one.
The Blues are in serious danger of being dragged into another relegation battle and Dyche was a major factor in that.
While his side kept many clean sheets, they struggled to score goals in his system with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto scoring just three in the league between them, the last of which came in October.

Focus now switches to the new ownership and their plans for the future, their next appointment could define how the new era at Everton goes.
Do they go for a big name such as Jose Mourinho or do they go with an exciting up-and-coming manager? History suggests the former with the ex-Chelsea man taking over from Paulo Fonseca when he was dismissed at Roma.
Dyche deserves credit for managing to keep the club in the top-flight with financial issues hampering his time at the club but it was time to move on.
In other Everton news, Sky Sports have claimed that an interim duo could manage the Blues until the end of the season.
