David Moyes backed to earn two or three year Everton contract
Ray Parlour has backed David Moyes to earn himself a longer contract after an initial short-term period at Everton.
After the sacking of Sean Dyche on Thursday (9 January), the former Blues boss has been tipped for a return to Goodison Park to replace him..
According to Graeme Bailey, a deal with Moyes has been agreed on a short-term basis to see the club through until the end of the season.
However, Parlour has backed the Scotsman to do enough to extend this as he said live on talkSPORT (10 January, 6:02am): “I think it’s going to be a short-term contract so keep them in the Premier League then they’ll make that big decision and if he does really well in that spell and he does get that job then they might look a little bit further forward and say look here’s a two or three-year contract on the table.
“But I’m sure they’re looking at it from any angle of what they can do moving forward. As I said before, they’re moving stadium, they can’t afford to go down can they?
“That’s the most important thing for Everton.”
David Moyes to save Everton?
While the sacking of Dyche came at an unexpected time, just hours before the FA Cup tie against Peterborough, the dismissal feels like it was a long time coming given the constant pressure the boss had been under in Merseyside.
The Toffees find themselves sitting just two points clear of the relegation zone and as Parlour says, it is essential that the Blues stay in the Premier League this term as they look ahead to their move into a new stadium in the summer.
As someone who knows the club very well, Moyes could be exactly what is needed to gear up supporters in the second half of the campaign and boost the morale at Goodison.

At the moment a short-term contract seems to be on the cards which is a sensible move for the Friedkin Group as it prioritises their current aims and gives the owners the choices to make about the future of the Blues.
However, should the 61-year-old come into the club and show signs of serious improvement, TFG could certainly do a lot worse than marking their new era with a permanent Moyes return.
