Everton transfer round-up: Blues eye Southampton ace, plus Newcastle-DCL update
Everton are now not only under new ownership but also under the reign of returning manager David Moyes, as transfer talk continues throughout January.
The winter transfer window is one in which the Toffees could make moves despite toeing the PSR line, with Moyes set to take his first game back in charge against Aston Villa on Wednesday (15 January).
Players have been linked with both joining and leaving Merseyside over the course of the month so far, as the latest transfer talk is rounded up by Goodison News.
Beto attracts further interest to leave Everton for Italy
Beto could be one man heading for the exit door at Goodison Park as Como of Serie A join the list of clubs eager for his services, according to Gianluca di Marzio (13 January).
The striker has struggled for game time this season but scored in Everton’s last outing against Peterborough United in the FA Cup (9 January).
Moyes has little centre-forward choice at his disposal at present, but a return to Italy for former Udinese man Beto certainly cannot be ruled out.

Toffees chase Richard Rios from Palmeiras
Everton could be set for a new midfield arrival after joining Tottenham in the race for Palmeiras ace Richard Rios, according to CaughtOffside (14 January).
The Colombian international has a release clause at the Brazilian club of a whopping £83million, though it is considered a deal could be arranged for the 24-year-old.
Rios has so far in his career only played his domestic football in either Brazil or Mexico, and has two goals in 19 senior caps for his national side.
Newcastle wait for Moyes decision on Calvert-Lewin
Newcastle United have returned with an interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin but Eddie Howe will wait on how David Moyes uses the striker, according to The Chronicle (14 January).
The striker was moments away from moving to Tyneside in the summer transfer window but the deal collapsed at the 11th hour, which would have been worth up to £40million despite Calvert-Lewin’s contract only running until June this year.
Howe is looking to see whether or not Moyes will favour Calvert-Lewin before deciding on a potential bid to bring him to St James’ Park.
Everton want Walker-Peters as Southampton look doomed to drop
Everton are interested in signing Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters in January, according to TEAMtalk.
Walker-Peters, who has been at Saints since 2020 and has since represented England, has decided to leave St Mary’s before his contract runs out this June.
Everton are hesitant over spending the demanded £7million fee for the 27-year-old due to his contract situation, while Southampton look destined for the drop back to the Championship this summer.
