Everton hope David Moyes can steer them away from the relegation zone and are prepared to back in the winter transfer window.

Manchester United make Jarrad Branthwaite decision
Manchester United will not spend “big money” to lure Branthwaite away from Everton, according to the Daily Mail (15 January).
The Red Devils would rather sign a young centre-back with potential than shell out a reported £70million on the England international.
This is despite United previously being heavily linked with a renewed bid to sign the 22-year-old [The Athletic].
Moyes to use contacts for striker
Moyes will use his contacts in football to help Everton bolster their ranks during the ongoing transfer window, according to Sky Sports’ Tim Thornton (14 January).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ transfer round-up on Tuesday, the journalist said that the Scottish tactician is hopeful of strengthening his squad despite the Toffees’ financial problems.
The Merseyside-based club have identified signing a new centre-forward as a top priority before the window closes on 3 February.
Everton in surprise talks to sign Tom Cannon
The Toffees have held talks over bringing Tom Cannon back to Goodison Park, according to GiveMeSport (15 January).
As per Sami Mokbel (15 January), Moyes’ side are in the “hunt” to re-sign the striker from Leicester, with Burnley, Sheffield United and Sunderland also in the mix.
Bids worth around £10m are said to be already in the for the Ireland international, who the Foxes have recalled from his loan at Stoke City.
Alan Myers, though, has dismissed Everton’s interest in the striker via his personal X account [15 January].
Everton given ‘green light’ to sign Devyne Rensch
The Premier League side are serious contenders to sign Devyne Rensch from Ajax alongside Napoli and Marseille after Roma had a £4.2m rejected on Monday (13 January), according to Algemeen Dagblad.

Everton have since received the green light to move forward with their interest in Rensch with Ajax director Alex Kroes admitting that the defender could leave the Eredivisie giants [Ziggo Sport, 14 January].
Ajax reportedly want around double the sum Roma offered to sanction a transfer for Rensch during this window.
