David Moyes has confirmed Ernest Nuamah as a player on the Everton transfer radar this month amid links to the Lyon star.

According to Fabrice Hawkins, the Toffees have reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 side, with a £16.8million move for the Ghanaian winger, who has scored just one goal for Lyon this season.

It is understood that the Merseysiders are in negotiations with the player over personal terms, with Moyes' side confident a deal can be reached, and the manager has now had his say on the transfer.

Speaking in his press conference [17 January], Moyes said: “He’s a player that I know we’ve been looking at, but I couldn’t say to you for a minute that I think it’s done or it’s underway unless something is happening that I don’t know about."

David Moyes set to make first addition to Everton squad?

The Toffees are in desperate need of adding more goals to the squad, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto struggling to find the net, and Armando Broja back on the treatment table.

Moyes takes over at Goodison Park with the team in a rather sticky predicament, with just one point separating the Toffees from the relegation zone after 20 matches.

While the side created plenty of chances against Aston Villa on Wednesday 15 January, they were still unable to hit the back of the net for the fifth time in six matches.

The manager continues to be without the biggest creative force in the squad, Dwight McNeil, though the likes of Iliman Ndiaye, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jesper Lindstrom seriously need to step up.

Conceding goals no longer seems to be an issue, at least not in recent weeks, but unless Moyes can find a way to improve the stats in the final third, relegation will be calling the Toffees' name until the end of the season.
