Everton are now exploring a January move for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, according to TBR Football.

The Toffees also want to send Armando Broja back to Stamford Bridge due to his injury but the London club want money to do that.

In turn, should the Goodison Park outfit sign a player on loan, they would be balancing out the finances Chelsea want to take the Albanian back.

Everton need to make at least two transfers in January

Chukwuemeka's pursuit appears to be strategically sound, especially given the complexities surrounding Broja's loan.

The 21-year-old midfielder, known for his versatility in midfield and capability to play on the wings, could inject much-needed creativity and dynamism into Everton's squad.

His skills could be pivotal in unlocking defences, providing the Toffees with an additional dimension in attack.

The financial aspect of this deal also makes sense; by potentially loaning Chukwuemeka in exchange for Broja's return, Everton can manage their finances prudently while addressing squad needs.

However, it's clear that a new striker is unlikely, which underscores the urgency for reinforcement elsewhere on the pitch.

With full-back being a position of concern, particularly given the season's injury toll and performance demands, the club should also target a defender to bolster their backline.
