Alan Pardew stunned by what he saw about Everton and Tottenham – ‘Astonishing’
Alan Pardew is baffled as Everton sit 16th in the Premier League after their 3-2 win against Tottenham on Sunday.
Pardew admitted he was “astonished” to see Manchester United, West Ham, Spurs and the Toffees in the bottom half of the table on 19 January.
The former manager insists that was impossible years ago after the Goodison Park showdown delivered David Moyes’ first win since his return.
Speaking on talkSPORT (19 January, 18:41), Pardew said: “When you look at the Premier League table tonight, this is how it stands: 13th is Manchester United, 14th is West Ham, 15th is Tottenham and 16th is Everton.
“That’s astonishing. If you go back two or three years and someone said that you, you’d say that’s impossible.”
Everton reveal astonishing after win v Tottenham
Moyes pulled off an important result for the Blues as they beat Tottenham 3-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January).
The Merseyside outfit are now four points above 18th-place Ipswich Town in the Premier League table.
After the Aston Villa loss, it looked like the Toffees could soon find themselves in the relegation zone, but the mood among the fanbase will be positive with the win over Spurs.
Everton have found themselves near the bottom of the Premier League for years, with the Blues’ prospects dwindling under Farhad Moshiri.

Sean Dyche had been tasked with surviving the drop in the last few seasons, but the former Burnley head coach was sacked after struggling in the current campaign with zero progress.
The Friedkin Group’s arrival at Goodison has undoubtedly renewed expectations as the Toffees look to regain their status among the big guns.
Moyes feels like the right man to make progress at the Merseyside outfit in the coming months, but the first task at hand for the Scottish manager will be to avoid a drop to the Championship.
In other Everton news, Moyes could be set for his first transfer blow already under The Friedkin Group.
