Darren Bent was amazed by Dominic Calvert-Lewin's performance as Everton secured a surprise 3-2 win against Tottenham on Sunday.

The out-of-form striker fired home the opener on 19 January, sending Goodison Park wild before Iliman Ndiaye and an Archie Gray own goal gave David Moyes' side a well-deserved lead at the break.

Despite late goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison, the Toffees were able to hold on for all three points for Moyes' first victory since returning to Merseyside.

Speaking live via talkSPORT [20 January, 4:22pm], Bent said: "My goodness, did he show up yesterday? He hasn't scored the goals he should have done and missed a lot of chances, but he led the line brilliantly.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin back in the goals at Everton

Calvert-Lewin has been an incredibly frustrating figure at Goodison Park over the last few seasons, not just because of his lack of goals, but also his never-ending contract situation.

The 27-year-old has now entered into the last six months of his current deal, and with just three Premier League goals to his name this term, opinion is split on whether The Friedkin Group should offer a new deal.

It is understood that there is hopefulness from Moyes that Calvert-Lewin will sign a new contract at Goodison Park [TBR Football], though he continues to be linked with a move away.

Until he does decide to leave, Calvert-Lewin can play a very important role in Moyes' new era on Merseyside, but the Toffees will need much better numbers from him for the second half of the campaign.

While Ndiaye has been an incredible addition to the squad, especially with Dwight McNeil still sidelined, he cannot carry the team on his back with a non-existent figure through the middle.
