David Moyes faces the ‘devil’ at Goodison as Everton claim torn to shreds
David Moyes won “nothing” in his first spell at Everton despite claiming to have had a successful time at Goodison Park, according to Gary Stevens.
The player-turned-pundit suggested that the Scottish tactician may have made a mistake by returning to the Merseyside-based club.
He added that Moyes has a “devil of a job” on his hands to avoid relegation with the Toffees this season, having inherited a team worse than the one he managed before joining Manchester United in 2013.
“I always think it is difficult going back and David Moyes described his time at the club previously as being a great time and a successful time, but the truth is David Moyes won nothing at Everton during those years”, Stevens said on Stadium Astro on 19 January.
“They were a much better side then than he’s inherited now and I think David Moyes has a devil of a job to keep Everton in the Premier League this season.”
David Moyes to prove Gary Stevens wrong at Everton
Yes, Stevens is right about Everton being much better during Moyes’ first stint on Merseyside, but there is no doubt that the Scot is capable of keeping them in the Premier League.
The 3-2 win against Tottenham at Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January) was a step in the right direction for the Blues as they look to avoid relegation.
It is worth noting that the Toffees are only four points behind Spurs in the table and also have a game in hand.
Moyes and Co can extend the gap with 18th-placed Ipswich Town to seven points if they win that game in hand, although it is against Liverpool.

Wolves appeared to be on the rise since Vitor Pereira’s arrival, but have now failed to win each of their last three games.
Therefore, there is every chance that the Goodison Park outfit avoid the drop again and move into the Bramley-Moore Dock stadium as a Premier League side as planned.
