Iliman Ndiaye among Premier League best as Jamie Carragher lauds Everton star
Jamie Carragher has gushed over Iliman Ndiaye after the Everton star’s impressive performance against Tottenham on Sunday.
The Senegalese winger netted the Toffees’ second goal of the afternoon at Goodison Park after Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s opener, with an Archie Gray own goal giving them a sizeable lead at half-time.
Thanks to a brilliant first-half display, one in which Ndiaye starred, goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison were not enough to take David Moyes’ first win of his tenure away.
Speaking via Sky Sports Premier League [20 January] Carragher said: “This fella is an absolute star. Look at the yardage at the top [39 yards], how far he runs with the ball.
It’s the sixth-furthest anyone has run with the ball in the Premier League this season and scored a goal, and he is a superstar. He’s fantastic.
Iliman Ndiaye continues to star at Everton
If the Toffees are to survive the threat of relegation for a third consecutive season, the supporters will ultimately have Ndiaye to thank due to his performances on the pitch.
He now has six goals to his name since arriving from Marseille during the summer, quickly becoming an integral part of Moyes’ squad and being the most important figure up front.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin getting back on the scoresheet will have come as a massive boost for the Toffees, but with the 27-year-old’s form just so unpredictable, Ndiaye is the constant the team need.
As Carragher showed in his analysis, the 24-year-old pushes his team up the pitch in such a drastic way and this will only continue as the campaign continues and Ndiaye grows more confident.
His previous spell in England with Sheffield United was extremely mixed, especially after struggling to make an impact in the Premier League, but those worries have already been put behind him.
