Everton manager David Moyes ‘shuts up pundit’ in perfect manner
The Friedkin Group made the choice to part ways with Sean Dyche this month after a poor first half of the campaign.
Former boss David Moyes has returned to Goodison Park after 12 years away from Merseyside in the hope that he can steer the Toffees away from the relegation zone.
Although the Scotsman got his first win over Tottenham on Sunday (19 January), the Blues are still sitting just four points above the drop zone showing the job that lies ahead.
Speaking on Stadium Astro [19 January] ahead of that match, Lee Sharpe questioned the decision of TFG as he said: “I think it’s a huge job [for Moyes].
“I’m very surprised that they sacked Sean Dyche. I think the position they are in, Sean Dyche was probably the perfect manager for the job.
“I think it has been a while since David Moyes has managed a team down the bottom half of the table since being at West Ham and previously Everton.
“So, a very, very tough job for him.”
On the basis of what followed, Moyes shut up the pundit in the perfect manner.
David Moyes is the man to take Everton forward
You can understand why there might be some sympathy for Dyche after his exit from Goodison Park, given he did have his struggles to face off the pitch which certainly impacted the Blues on the pitch.
However, with new owners looking forward, it was no surprise to see a decision made to make a change just out of an element of creating a new mood on Merseyside to mark a new era.
Dyche may well have kept the Toffees up, but it doesn’t mean that Moyes can’t do the same and the performance against Tottenham certainly suggested his side have a good chance.

Players who have flopped this season, such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin, now look like new signings. And while they have to back these performances up, you could see a sense of enjoyment and confidence in the side as they beat Spurs 3-2.
Moyes knows the club well and has seemingly lifted the mood already, so despite what Sharpe says, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Scotsman steer his side to safety, clear of any relegation battles at the end of the season.
