Friedkin Group ‘more than trigger-happy’ after Everton move already – expert
Everton supporters will in time appreciate Sean Dyche as a safe pair of hands who saved the club from relegation, according to Ian Darke.
The TV commentator, speaking exclusively to Goodison News, also branded The Friedkin Group as “trigger-happy”, as Dyche becomes the latest of several recent sackings across their sporting network.
David Moyes was reappointed on 11 January, two days after Dyche’s dismissal, and followed up a defeat by Aston Villa with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham at Goodison Park (19 January).
“I think the tipping point with Dyche really was that they hadn’t scored in eight of 10 games, getting closer to the cliff edge,” Darke admitted.
“These new owners have shown themselves to be more trigger-happy and they’ve decided to fire the bullet. They’ve done it with Mourinho and De Rossi and managers like those at Roma, so they’re not shy.
“But I think history will judge Dyche as a manager who kept them up, just without the trimmings.”
Friedkin Group trigger happy at Everton
Everton dispensed with Dyche with six months of his contract remaining on Merseyside, with the Toffees widely anticipated to be replacing him in the summer regardless of this season’s outcome.
TFG have now parted with three managers across their sporting empire this season, with Daniele de Rossi and now-Southampton boss Ivan Juric sacked by Roma since the summer.

Jose Mourinho also left the Stadio Olimpico in early 2024, with Claudio Ranieri becoming Roma’s fourth head coach in a calendar year when he replaced Juric after just 12 games back in November.
