Alan Myers shares Everton and Habib Diarra transfer reveal

Alan Myers has revealed that Everton aren’t interested in Strasbourg ace Habib Diarra.

The Toffees were interested in signing the 21-year-old earlier in the winter window as plans to spend “tens of millions” on his signature were reported [Foot Africa].

Sources suggested that an offer in the region of £16.6million was in the pipeline for the Ligue 1 starlet at Goodison Park but an agreement was never reached.

With just days remaining of the window, one fan asked Myers, via X (31 January), if the interest from Merseyside was still there for the Senegal international

The Sky Sports reporter replied sharply: “No.”

Everton interest in Habib Diarra fades

David Moyes has made it little secret that he would like multiple new signings on Merseyside before the 3 February transfer deadline.

Initially, it appeared that two forwards were being eyed by the L4 club but a midfield option could now prove to make more sense.

This comes after Orel Mangala was ruled out for the rest of the season through injury which certainly leaves the Toffees light in the middle of the park.

The loss of the Belgian piles plenty of pressure on the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner who will have to make up for the ex-Nottingham Forest man’s absence.

As a result, bringing in someone like Diarra who has the versatility to play in a host of midfield positions could be a smart move from Kevin Thelwell and Co.

Even if that might be the case, it now appears after Myers’ update that the Strasbourg man has fallen off the radar at Goodison.
