Carlos Alcaraz starts: How Everton could line up after transfer window

David Moyes could line up with new names Carlos Alcaraz, Samuel Chukwueze and Evan Ferguson at Everton after the winter transfer window.

After Moyes’ return to Goodison Park, the Toffes have seen a positive lift in results but the boss is eager to get new faces into his squad before the window closes on 3 February.

With injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Armando Broja and Orel Mangala, reinforcements are needed to fill gaps in the side as the Scotsman looks to stay in the Premier League.

Although there are PSR restrictions to be considered with no further points deductions needed at Goodison Park, Moyes knows that he has to bring in several new faces to his side.

Jordan Pickford has continued to be outstanding for the Toffees this term and with eight clean sheets this season, there is no concern of his position in the squad being disrupted.

Similarly, the defensive performances for the Blues this term have, at times, been the only part gaining praise so it’s not an urgent point of worry for the boss.

James Garner has recently returned to the line-up after recovering from injury but Mangala has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign leaving a replacement needed.

The Toffees have had their offer accepted for Flamengo star Alvaraz [Raisa Simplicio, 31 January] who has agreed to join the club on a loan deal, with an option to buy.

Therefore, you can see the 22-year-old walking straight into the starting line-up.

The Blues have also been offered the chance to sign Chukwueze from AC Milan [Calciomercato, 1 February] who could replace Jesper Lindstrom as he has had an underwhelming campaign.

Meanwhile, Abdoulaye Doucoure is likely to remain next to Iliman Ndiaye who has been a standout performer in a tough campaign for the Toffees.

With the attacking positions already the most worrying point of the Blues side this term, Moyes will have wanted a new striker anyway. However, with the injuries to Calvet-Lewin and Broja, this has become even more pressing.

Ferguson has been linked with the Merseyside outfit throughout the window and according to Graeme Bailey (31 January), the Toffees have enquired about his availability as they desperately need reinforcements.

If Moyes could bag this transfer, it would certainly look like an indication of more positive times ahead at Goodison Park.
