Flamengo received and accepted an offer from Everton for Carlos Alcaraz on Friday morning, according to Raisa Simplicio.

The GOAL Brasil journalist revealed on her personal X account on Friday (31 January) that the purchase option in the loan deal will be activated if the Argentine starts eight games.

It has also been reported that the 22-year-old's representatives were not involved in the negotiations with the Toffees.

Carlos Alcaraz transfer dilemma at Everton

While the noise out of Brazil suggests that the Blues have agreed on a deal to sign the midfielder, there have been suggestions to the contrary [Alan Myers, 31 January].

No matter what the case, the Merseyside outfit will be getting a talented prospect if they complete the move for the youngster.

Alcaraz has showcased his talent in the Premier League with Southampton in the past, so the Goodison Park faithful know what to expect from him.

The Blues have suffered multiple fitness issues in their squad recently and will likely need to bolster their ranks to give David Moyes the best chance of avoiding relegation.

Everton evidently need a new midfielder after Orel Mangala picked up a season-ending injury in the 1-0 win over Brighton on 25 January.

The Toffees can't waste time thinking about who to sign anymore with the transfer window set to shut on 3 February.

It remains to be seen what the hold-up is regarding the Alcaraz deal and whether the potential deal will collapse in the coming hours.

Moyes will arguably be desperate to have more bodies in, but it seems like he will still have to wait before the first winter singing is announced.
