Everton transfer news: Liverpool Echo journo shares update on Ligue 1 player

Everton are not pursuing a deal for Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert, according to Joe Thomas.

The Liverpool Echo journalist reported on Sunday (2 February) that despite links to the contrary, the Blues will not attempt to sign the Frenchman before Monday’s deadline.

Although David Moyes is eager to provide competition in the full-back spots, the position will not be prioritised this window, with targets sought at the business end of the pitch.

David Moyes will prioritise a new forward for Everton

The Toffees will undoubtedly be active in the final days of the winter transfer window after breaking news emerged that Carlos Alcaraz will undergo a medical on Merseyside ahead of a Premier League return [Sky Sports].

Alcaraz’s impending arrival has sparked excitement in the Goodison Park dressing room as the ex-Southampton man prepares to become the first signing of the second Moyes era.

However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and despite Beto scoring a brace in the 4-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday (1 February), he could leave the Toffees before the deadline [Tuttosport].

Therefore, Moyes urgently needs a new focal point for the attack as he looks to build on his incredible start to life at Goodison Park.

With less than 24 hours before the deadline slams shut, Kevin Thelwell has no time to waste to ensure the Toffees have enough firepower to retain their Premier League status this season.

Nevertheless, the Blues will be working tirelessly to make the most of what remains in the transfer market and, considering Alcaraz’s arrival appeared out of the blue, nothing can be ruled out until the 11pm deadline on Monday.
