Everton transfer news: Serie A club could make last-ditch Beto bid

Atalanta could make a “lunge” for Everton ace Beto before the close of deadline day on 3 February, according to Alessandro Giovanni Pagliarni.

The Italian journalist reported via his personal X account (3 February), that although a move from the Bergamo outfit could still be on, it’s proving to be “much more difficult” than expected.

The Portugal-born striker has been long-linked with a Goodison Park exit but due to the injuries suffered by Armando Broja and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an exit now seems unlikely before the close of the window.

Everton cannot allow Beto to exit Goodison Park

Everton fans may have wanted to see the back of Beto at the start of the 2024/25 season but thanks to the recent injuries the Merseyside outfit have suffered, it feels like sanctioning his exit would be a silly move for the Toffees.

Indeed, Carlos Alcaraz is set to be confirmed as the Merseyside outfit’s newest recruit and while he could be used in a more advanced role, it feels like he’d thrive in the number 10 role or on one of the flanks.

Which means that of the players available in Everton’s squad, Beto is the only valid option to lead their attacking line at the moment.

If Calvert-Lewin or Broja were fit and raring to go, the situation might have been somewhat different but as it stands, it feels like Moyes would be crippling his team for no reason, especially if a replacement couldn’t be sourced before 11pm on the 3rd.
