David Moyes to sign off on new Everton arrival amid speculation – Exclusive

Everton are making a host of changes both on and off the pitch, although one arrival isn’t expected to go ahead without David Moyes’ approval.

As the Toffees prepare to move from Goodison Park to Bramley-Moore Dock, plenty of changes are being made.

Angus Kinnear will arrive from Leeds to become the Blues’ new CEO at the end of the season, while Kevin Thelwell’s time at Everton will be brought to an end this summer.

Meanwhile, there have been a host of other changes behind the scenes, and the Toffees are now alert to the possibility of appointing a backroom figure from one of the Premier League’s leading clubs.

Moyes could greenlight influential Arsenal figure’s arrival at Everton

As reported by TBR Football (31 March), Everton have been alerted to the fact that there’s a potential opportunity to hire Arsenal’s Jason Ayto this summer.

Since joining the Gunners in 2014, the 40-year-old has risen in prominence in North London, climbing the ranks to the point where he was named Arsenal’s interim sporting director after Edu Gaspar’s departure earlier this season.

Arsenal considered Ayto for that role permanently but instead opted to appoint Andrea Berta, which could lead to the Englishman moving on, with Everton considering him a perfect replacement for Thelwell.

However, ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes any decision on this matter will be made by Moyes.

“If Moyes wants somebody of that nature, then he could be an asset,” King said.

“However, that decision has to come from the manager. You can’t just bring in staff, these decisions are going to be left to Moyes.

“Managers usually bring their own team in. Moyes was there before Kinnear, and he has already got Alan Irwin and Leighton Baines in there, two very popular figures at the football club. Irwin has worked with Moyes for many years.

“Baines, of course, was at Everton and was brought in by Moyes and progressed to become an England player under Moyes. It would be Moyes who will sign off on this move if it were to happen.”

Therefore, he has earned the right to make major decisions behind the scenes, and it should be Moyes and Moyes only who greenlights Ayto’s potential arrival on Merseyside.
