Friedkins ‘pull off PSR masterstroke’ with new Goodison Park decision

Everton have new plans for Goodison Park that is going to be beneficial against Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The Toffees are preparing to walk away from their Goodison Park home at the end of this season, with David Moyes’ men set to play at Bramley-Moore Dock from next season.

Test games have already taken place at Everton’s new stadium in a bid to get everything prepared, with the Merseyside giants moving or financial reasons.

Everton are set to generate an additional £40million-per-year in revenue from the stadium move as they will be able to seat an additional 13,000 people, while having greater commercial opportunities to explore.

Goodison Park will still serve a purpose

For those fans worried that Goodison Park would be demolished or be left to rot, there is good news as the Friedkin Group intends on putting it to use.

Everton’s Women’s team are set to use the stadium from next season, with the masterplan being a financially brilliant decision for the Toffees.

According to financial expert Adam Williams via Everton.news (3 April), the women’s team runs at a loss currently, which is subsidised by the parent company.

However, there is no limit on how much money can be pumped into that team under PSR terms; therefore, any financial turnover goes back into the PSR, which is what the men’s team is judged on.

That means if Everton’s women’s team moving to Goodison Park becomes a success, then it would be a benefit to the men’s side of things substantially.

The Friedkin Group set to back David Moyes

Moyes has created an impressive turnaround at Everton since his sensational return to Merseyside, helping them avoid any threat of relegation.

Avoiding the drop was crucial for the Toffees this season due to the stadium move as they couldn’t afford for it not to be a success, and top-flight football is key to that.

The Friedkin Group are expected to back Moyes during the summer transfer window in order to improve the squad and ensure that they push further up the Premier League table.

This goes along with sweeping changes that the Friedkin Group are making behind the scenes as they aim to improve all aspects of the club.
