Everton were once again at the heart of controversy in their 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Saturday.

After James Tarkowski was told he should have been sent off in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool, it was the Gunners left with defensive complaints this time around.

Iliman Ndiaye stepped up to score the equaliser from the spot at Goodison Park, after Myles Lewis-Skelly was judged to have fouled Jack Harrison.

Micah Richards rages at Everton footage

Asked by Gary Lineker about the incident on The Rest is Football podcast, Micah Richards admits he could not believe his eyes as the penalty was given.

The former Manchester City defender believes it was more of a foul by Harrison, with Alan Shearer agreeing it was very harsh on Arsenal.

"That's never a pen," he said. "Come on.

"I was watching it, thinking it's a foul the other way and then in the end, they sort of tangle a little bit, but that's never, ever, ever a pen."

Shearer then immediately replied: "Very, very soft. I agree."

David Moyes not happy

Moyes will have been delighted to get a decision to go his way after a rocky few weeks.

The Scotsman was raging after Liverpool's goal was allowed to stand at Anfield, with Luis Diaz in an offside position but deemed not to be involved.

Lewis-Skelly got himself in an awful mess, and Harrison has to be praised for his tenacity to try and get in behind and make a difference in the final third.

After a rocky few weeks, the Leeds loanee improved, but he has to do a lot more to prove himself to fans and earn a permanent move, which looks unlikely.

Jack Harrison's Everton stats

Everton are already looking ahead to the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock, and that could represent the perfect chance to get rid of players from the old regime.

Harrison signing on loan for two consecutive years highlights the previous trouble under Farhad Moshiri, and going for bigger, better names has to be on the cards.

Moyes will know what he wants, and that may work out well for the winger, who has been favoured.

But, with only one goal to his name this season, there has to be a change of guard eventually, and what better time than this summer with the stadium move and new ownership?
