Tottenham respond as Everton ready Richarlison transfer

Everton could see their plans to sign former striker Richarlison thwarted, as the Tottenham striker reaches the Europa League final.

The Brazilian international enjoyed four years at Goodison Park before making the big move to Spurs, but his time so far at the North London club has been underwhelming.

The Toffees have had a difficult season, and the return of a beloved talent could be the spark that lights the flame within David Moyes’ side.

However, Everton’s pursuit of their former star could be put to the test as Tottenham look to have delayed any decisions after reaching Bilbao.

Spurs fully focused on Europa League campaign

With the Blues set to play at Bramley-Moore Dock next season, a couple of marquee signings could be on the cards.

Everton are said to be interested in a loan with an obligation to buy deal for the striker, but a move away from Spurs seems unlikely for the moment.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are unaware of Everton’s plans and have no intention of making any plans themselves over sales until after the Europa League.

Spurs reached the final on Thursday, with a 2-0 win over Bodo/Glimt over in Norway.

Everton should stay away from Richarlison

While the dream to reunite with a once-adored player is an enticing one, a move for their former player would be a step backwards.

Once again, the Tottenham striker has been plagued with injuries and has missed more than 30 games this season, while Everton’s main forward, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has faced similar issues and has missed 15 matches for the Blues.

With Calvert-Lewin’s contract expiring, Everton should not look to bring in a replacement that will bring in the same host of issues.

As the Toffees prepare for their new Bramley-Moore Dock era, they should rid themselves of the chains that held them down at Goodison Park.

While a proven Premier League striker who can net during high-stakes games is important, availability is the best ability and with his injury record, there will be little Richarlison can do in those big matches watching from his sofa at home.
