Everton 'ready to roar again' as Robbie Savage speaks out

Everton have every right to feel optimistic about the future as they waltz over to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Despite struggling for much of the season, the Toffees finished the Premier League season in emphatic fashion.

David Moyes is the reason behind Everton's upturn in form, capping off a magnificent turnaround with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at St James' Park.

Former player Robbie Savage has backed up the Merseyside outfit's potential with his latest review.

Savage bigs up Everton amid Hill Dickinson move

Earlier in the season, there were considerable concerns that Sean Dyche would sleepwalk Everton towards relegation.

However, given how woeful the bottom three were, it would have been quite something if the former Burnley manager achieved that.

As it were, the Toffees hierarchy did not want to take such a risk and appointed Moyes for the second time.

Their decision has been duly vindicated after the 62-year-old went on a rampant run of form, leading the North West club to a 13th-place finish.

That meant that Everton could say their farewells to Goodison Park in a positive manner and topped it off with a 2-0 win over Southampton.

Writing in the print edition of the Daily Mirror (31 May, pg 59), Savage rated their season a 7/10, with reasons to look forward shared.

He said: "Exciting time, for the Toffees, who move into their new stadium in August with the cycle of annual relegation battles broken by David Moyes' return to the club.

"They will miss Goodison Park's history, but the blue half of Merseyside is ready to roar again."

Moyes to make statement of intent with marquee signings

A sign of the Toffees' progress under Moyes is evident in the bold transfers they are trying to pull off.

Moyes was vocal about his admiration for Liam Delap, and although he now looks set to join Chelsea, these are encouraging signs.

As well as an audacious move for Delap, Everton are contenders to sign Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City.

Although the Merseyside club will face stiff competition for the 29-year-old, his desire to remain in the North West could play into their hands.

Whatever happens, it seems Everton are going for it this summer as they enter a new dawn at the Hill Dickinson.
