Everton are reportedly ready to intensify their pursuit of Villarreal striker Thierno Barry and sign him in the coming weeks.

Barry wants to move to the Premier League amid links to the Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer.

The Villarreal striker has been on the Toffees' radar for a while, with them prioritising a move for him.

Barry talks set to intensify as France lose to Germany in U-21s European Championship

According to The Times' Paul Joyce (27 June), the Blues will now look to intensify talks to sign the 22-year-old after France lost to Germany in the Under-21s European Championship on Wednesday.

With that 3-0 defeat, the French side's hopes of winning the tournament ended, with their players returning home.

Barry, who was a part of that team, can now focus on his club career and finalise a potential transfer to Merseyside.

David Moyes is keen on the Villarreal ace and a bid has also been lodged to sign him, but it was turned down.

Everton must now hold persuasive talks with Barry

To tempt Barry, the Toffees must emphasise their ambitious project under Moyes, highlighting their move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium and the Friedkin Group’s investment in a competitive squad.

Offering a central role as the primary striker, given Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s likely departure, would appeal to the 22-year-old’s desire for consistent minutes.

Showcasing Moyes’ track record of developing young talents and presenting a clear tactical fit for Barry’s 6ft 5in frame, aerial prowess, and relentless runs in behind could seal the deal.

A competitive wage and long-term contract would further entice him to join Everton.

Acting quickly is imperative due to rising interest from other clubs, with Villarreal’s £34million release clause attracting suitors.

With the transfer window heating up and Barry’s U-21 Euros commitments concluded, delays risk losing him to rivals or inflated fees.
