‘Iroegbunam to bid farewell’ as Everton ready £21.5m Morten Frendrup transfer

Tim Iroegbunam could potentially look for a way out of Everton if Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is signed this transfer window.

The Toffees are yet to make a signing this summer transfer window, but Thierno Barry’s arrival from Villarreal looks close.

David Moyes will hope Idrissa Gueye signs a new contract at the Blues after losing Abdoulaye Doucoure, who has left after his deal expired.

While the Merseyside outfit need midfield reinforcements in the coming weeks, Iroegbunam might look for pastures new after what’s happened.

Everton consider Frendrup as Genoa open to £21.5m transfer

Frendrup will be allowed to leave Genoa for around £21.5m amid interest from the Toffees, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet reports (3 July) that the Blues are giving fresh consideration to the 24-year-old midfielder, with West Ham United also tracking him.

It’s been claimed that the Merseyside outfit are looking at the possibility of signing a combative midfielder, and the Denmark international is on their radar.

With the likes of James Garner, Carlos Alcaraz, Harrison Armstrong and potentially Idrissa Gueye at Moyes’ disposal, Iroegbunam may struggle for regular minutes if more quality additions are made.

The former Aston Villa ace joined the Toffees last summer and hardly featured for them, although fitness issues did play a part in his lack of game time.

At 22 years old, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the midfielder demand guarantees from the Scottish manager ahead of next season, which could potentially be hard for him to give.

Garner and Gueye’s partnership in the engine room flourished last season, and it won’t be easy to dislodge either of them from the starting lineup.

The Birmingham-born star’s future will surely be one to keep an eye on in L5 as Everton move to Bramley-Moore Dock.

Frendrup decent transfer option for Moyes at Hill Dickinson Stadium

Moyes did amazingly well at Goodison Park during the final months of the Grand Old Lady and deserves to be backed by the new owners.

The Scottish manager has lost a lot of quality and depth from his squad, with several players leaving as free agents recently.

Ferndrup has been a regular for Genoa in recent years, helping them gain promotion from Serie B in 2023 and finishing 13th in the top flight with the Italian outfit last season.

The 24-year-old has demonstrated his leadership skills with the Rossoblu, captaining them on several occasions, and the midfielder’s versatility could prove beneficial at the Merseyside outfit.
