Thierno Barry travels to Merseyside for Everton signing within hours

Thierno Barry is set to become Everton’s second signing of the summer.

The Villareal striker has been regularly linked with Everton during the transfer window, with David Moyes’ side in desperate need of firepower upfront.

Barry featured for France at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and contributed to 15 goals in his debut season in La Liga.

The striker is now closing in on a £34.4million move to Merseyside, as Everton’s transfer window finally gains pace.

Barry to travel to Everton to finalise move

Everton fans will be rewarded for their patience, with the Frenchman representing a huge coup for the Toffees, after the permanent arrival of Carlos Alcaraz.

Moyes’ side have shown their pulling power as they appear to have fought off competition from the likes of Wolves and West Ham to land the forward.

The Club World Cup has put a spanner in the works for many teams, but the Friedkin Group are now ready to implement their summer plans.

According to The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland (8 July), Barry is travelling to Merseyside as Everton look to finalise a move for the Villarreal striker.

The striker is believed to have already agreed terms with the Blues, having been on Moyes’ radar for a while, with everything set to be signed within hours, via Matteo Moretto.

At 22, Barry already brings with him plenty of experience, having made his professional debut for Belgian side Beveren in 2022.

He then climbed the ranks at Basel before continuing his fine goalscoring form at Villarreal.

The 6’5″ striker offers Everton an aerial threat that could prove useful in replacing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who left at the end of June.

Barry signing would please Everton fans

Everton fans haven’t had much to shout about over recent seasons.

Having flirted with relegation, the Toffees now have a chance to progress under the Friedkin Group.

The Blues have needed attacking reinforcements this summer, having scored just 42 goals last season and losing several key players recently.

Barry will be useful in helping to sort out Everton’s attacking woes, and with the likes of Omari Hutchinson also linked, the Goodison Park faithful have plenty to look forward to.
