'Friedkins given cheap alternative' amid Reguilon and Everton transfer surprise

Sergio Reguilon is one of many names on the free agent market this summer.

Reguilon, 28, has departed from Tottenham Hotspur this summer following the expiration of his contract, ending a five-year spell in North London.

The Spaniard endured a mixed spell at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which included loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford.

Reguilon is now looking for his next adventure, and his next destination could see him remain in England.

We can confirm the departures of Fraser Forster, Sergio Reguilon and Alfie Whiteman following the conclusion of their contracts, while Timo Werner departs following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Everton interested in Reguilon as left-back offered to Italian clubs

Everton are one of the clubs interested in bringing in the former Sevilla defender.

Caught Offside (14 July) are reporting that the Toffees, alongside Bournemouth and West Ham United, are showing an interest in keeping Reguilon in England next season.

Reguilon has been offered to Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan, although neither club have committed to completing a deal as of yet.

Milan look the more likely to try and bring the Spaniard to Italy, having seen Theo Hernandez leave for Al-Hilal.

West Ham are showing the most interest among the Premier League sides so far, as they look to continue their rebuild this summer.

However, their deal for El Hadji Malick Diouf could rule them out of the race, as Reguilon is remaining patient as he looks for first-team football guarantees.

Reguilon deal can't go wrong for the Friedkin Group

Everton need a left-back this summer, with Vitaliy Mykolenko the only recognised left-sided defender in the Toffees squad for next season.

A deal for Reguilon - who has played 81 Premier League games - would be a win-win scenario for the Friedkin Group, even if this news does come as a surprise.

Should the ex-Real Madrid defender flop on Merseyside, Everton would be able to recoup a profit that can be used on a replacement.

Reguilon can provide an attacking threat from full-back

If Reguilon can rediscover the form he had during his first season at Tottenham, he can provide a similar threat at both ends of the pitch to that of Mykolenko.

With the Toffees in a critical phase with the move to their new stadium, David Moyes needs smart backing, and Reguilon would be the perfect signing.
