Everton ‘to revisit Walker-Peters deal after shocking transfer statement’
David Moyes is still searching for a fullback to add to Everton’s squad.
Moyes has played the safe option by offering contracts to Séamus Coleman and Michael Keane, ensuring the Toffees have some backup, but neither is expected to play a prominent role next season.
The Scotsman has been targeting free agents for that position, including former Spurs left-back Sergio Reguilón, after missing out on signing Kenny Tete.
However, recent unexpected developments have also reopened the door to another ex-Spurs man in Kyle Walker-Peters.

Beşiktaş issue brutal statement as Walker-Peters offer withdrawn
Everton were looking at signing Walker-Peters after the 28-year-old’s contract expired with Southampton last month.
The versatile defender had been an ever-present for the Saints since arriving from Tottenham in August 2020, and played in all but five of the Seaside club’s Premier League games last season.
Club | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Southampton | 202 | 7 | 12 |
Tottenham | 25 | 1 | 5 |
The former England international looked set to join Beşiktaş. However, as reported by the BBC (17 July), the Turkish outfit called off the move and released a harsh statement explaining their decision.
Beşiktaş claim that Walker-Peters delayed having a medical after agreeing to a contract in principle, and then asked for more time to make his final decision.
The Istanbul-based club responded by retracting their offer in apparent protest.
This offers Everton the chance to revisit a deal for Walker-Peters, who will be keen to secure his future in light of the shocking statement.
Walker-Peters ticks a lot of boxes for Everton
Despite his recent mishap, Walker-Peters remains a sensible target for the Merseyside club, who are still very light on the ground in terms of players.
The Spurs academy graduate played in five different positions last season, across the back and both flanks, making him an ideal player for Moyes.
He has a wealth of Premier League experience, but is still in his physical prime, and could regularly challenge for a spot in the first team.
Walker-Peters is also a free agent, and while he would likely demand a signing-on fee, it would allow the Blues to focus their budget on other key signings, such as Douglas Luiz.
