Done deal: Everton complete Pacheco transfer after ‘amazing’ Friedkin backing

Everton Women are undergoing an exciting time in their history as they prepare for the new season.

The Toffees finished the 2024/25 Women’s Super League campaign in eighth, it being their eighth consecutive season in the top flight.

Brian Sorenson’s side will be playing their football at Goodison Park next season, which highlights the ambition of the North West club.

The Friedkin Group are continuing to improve Everton Women, with Maz Pacheco now confirmed as their latest signing.

Everton Women sign Pacheco on free transfer

The Toffees have already completed a substantial number of deals, with Rion Ishikawa among the new arrivals at Everton Women.

Sorenson has developed a young side in the North West, with Issy Hobson the youngest-ever WSL goalscorer at age 16.

Now, Everton Women have announced (22 July) the signing of Pacheco on the Merseyside club’s website.

The full-back joins the Toffees on a free transfer after her contract with WSL rivals Aston Villa came to an end.

Pacheco becomes the North West club’s eighth summer signing as Sorenson builds a squad for a new era at Goodison Park.

Although she came through England’s youth ranks, Pacheco represents the Philippines at international level.

The 26-year-old spoke of her joy at signing for the Merseyside club on Everton.TV (22 July) and referenced the owners during her first interview.

She said: “It is amazing to join Everton. To be at such a historic club is an unbelievable feeling. I wanted to stay in the WSL and give it my all…

“To be at a club that has the backing of the owners, the Men’s team and the staff who work here is amazing.”

Toffees must make progress amid Goodison Park move

While there is understandable hype around Everton Women’s switch to Goodison Park, it is results that count.

The Merseysiders have finished eighth in the last two campaigns, but have been as high as fifth over the last five seasons.

Eight new signings are encouraging, but Sorenson must ensure he can bed his new players into his squad.

Experienced duo Justine Vanhaevermaet and Heather Payne departed the Merseyside club when their contracts expired, with big change all around.

Now, the Toffees will hope that their new acquisitions can deliver, with the WSL set to kick off in September.
