Everton sign Dewsbury-Hall: Will he make debut v Roma under David Moyes?

Everton confirmed the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea on Wednesday, 6 August.

After spending one season at Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old will now be playing under David Moyes’ stewardship.

The English midfielder has become the fifth senior signing of the summer for the Merseyside outfit after Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, Charly Alcaraz and Mark Travers.

David Moyes thrilled as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signs five-year contract

Dewsbury-Hall has completed his Everton move and has signed a five-year contract at the club.

The Toffees have paid £25million plus £4million add-ons to secure the former Leicester City midfielder’s services.

After loan spells at Blackpool and Luton Town, he made a name for himself at Leicester and was adored by the fans.

However, at Chelsea, he found it hard to secure regular playing time in the Premier League, given their abundance of riches.

A move to Merseyside will see him working under Moyes and playing regular minutes in all competitions.

The Everton manager is thrilled with this signing, raving over his quality and Premier League experience.

Speaking about his arrival, the Scotsman said: “We are pleased that Kiernan has chosen to join Everton. He had other clubs interested in signing him but he was excited by the opportunity and the challenge at Everton.

“Kiernan’s quality and experience of the Premier League gives us the hope that he can adapt quickly.

“We look forward to working with him and I’m sure all Evertonians will give him the support he needs.”

Starting Dewsbury-Hall would allow him to acclimate to his new teammates and the state-of-the-art 52,888-capacity stadium, fostering chemistry ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

His experience at Leicester and Chelsea, combined with his versatility, could enhance the Toffees’ midfield creativity and work rate, crucial for Moyes’ tactical setup.

Playing in this historic match, the first full-capacity event at Hill Dickinson, would also help the Englishman adapt to the electric atmosphere and the club’s passionate fanbase.

With Roma, also owned by The Friedkin Group, providing strong opposition, this debut could set the tone for a promising campaign.
