Hector Fort agrees loan move after last-minute Everton approach on deadline day
Everton have been chasing a late deal to sign Barcelona defender Hector Fort.
The 19-year-old right-back hasn’t played for Barca yet this season, leading to suggestions that he could be available for a late loan move away from Catalonia.
Everton made an enquiry about signing Fort on deadline day.
However, the news emerging out of Spain following the end of the English transfer news isn’t quite encouraging for David Moyes and Everton.

Elche beat Everton to Hector Fort deal
Everton are waiting on a deal to sign Freiburg’s Merlin Rohl on a loan-to-buy basis after submitting a deal sheet to the Premier League.
However, it’s unlikely that any such contact has been made over a move for Fort to join the Toffees with Fabrizio Romano claiming that he’s moving to Elche.
Romano reported via his personal X account on Monday that the La Liga club has agreed a loan deal for the Spain youth international.
He adds there’s no option-to-buy clause in the temporary agreement.
Fort is a highly-rated talent at Barcelona.
Legendary commentator Ian Darke has called Fort a “very good young full-back”, who is simply struggling to break into the Barca side due to Jules Kounde.
There’s no doubt that he would have been a solid addition at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be.

What’s going on with Everton’s move for Merlin Rohl?
German central-midfielder Rohl is waiting to see if his move to Merseyside has been completed in time.
Rohl has reportedly had his Everton medical, so the only thing everyone is waiting for now likely is for the paperwork to be completed.
It is understood that the Blues are signing the 23-year-old on an initial loan that will include an obligation for the deal to be made permanent next year.
- Rohl was born in Potsdam, Germany in 2002
- His professional career started at Ingolstadt before he joined Freiburg in 2022
- He’ll arrive at Everton as their final signing of the summer transfer window
Everton will have to shell out £21.6million to sign the Freiburg star permanently.
Fans might not need to wait up too late for this one to be announced but if confirmation doesn’t come on Monday night, it no doubt will on Tuesday morning.
