Everton have no doubt prepared well for the 2025/26 campaign.

Across the transfer window, Moyes brought in nine new signings, significantly improving the quality of the squad.

This has already delivered results, with Everton’s 3-2 victory over Wolves sending them up to fifth in the Premier League table.

However, there are still some areas that need improving, with Everton in dire need of a new right-back.

On top of this, additional coaching staff would not go amiss, with the Toffees seemingly behind their Premier League rivals.

Everton one of four Premier League sides not to have set-piece coach

Set-pieces have become vital in the Premier League in recent years.

Top teams such as Arsenal have proved to be consistently deadly off corners and free-kicks, which have often tipped the tide of a match.

As a result, many teams have looked to appoint a set-piece specialist in recent years, with this now becoming the norm in the Premier League.

  • Teams such as Chelsea and Arsenal have become deadly from set plays
  • Many teams now appoint a set-piece coach to help defend and attack
  • Some clubs even have two set-piece coaches

Now, according to Training Ground Guru, the Toffees are just one of four teams in the English top-flight not to have one in their coaching staff, with Leeds, Wolves and West Ham being the others.

While Everton did have a set-piece coach in Charlie Adam, he left the club in June as he looks to become a manager once more.

Everton need a set-piece coach

If Everton do not appoint a set-piece coach, they will be seriously missing out.

It is no coincidence that the sides without one are currently struggling in the table.

In fact, according to WhoScored on 2 September, West Ham and Leeds have the worst record at defending set-pieces so far this season, conceding four and two.

On top of this, the Hammers and Peacocks, as well as Wolves, have not scored a single goal from a set-piece.

This is clearly a group of clubs Everton do not want to take inspiration from, and they must look to quickly appoint one as soon as possible.
