David Moyes blow as Everton backroom member agrees to join Manchester United

Everton have no doubt had a successful summer, bringing in nine first-team players across the transfer window.

With Jack Grealish’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium no doubt being the highlight, there is a real hope that the Toffees can march up the Premier League table.

However, while the playing squad has no doubt improved, there remain doubts over the backroom staff.

Many of David Moyes’ coaches have left over the summer, a trend that doesn’t seem to be ending any time soon.

Everton First Team Doctor William Fotherby to depart for Manchester United

In recent months, Moyes has struggled to keep hold of some of his backroom staff.

Set-piece coach Charlie Adam left Everton in June, with the Toffees yet to fill this vacancy.

The former Scotland international’s departure followed that of head of recruitment Dan Purdy joined Rangers.

Now, according to Everton insider The Bobble via X on 3 September, Everton First Team Doctor William Fotherby is set to depart for Manchester United.

It is unclear when this will become official, but the Toffees will surely need to bring in a replacement sooner rather than later.

David Moyes needs to have a long-term coaching team in place

While there is little the Scotsman could have done about the recent impending departure, these constant changes cannot be helping Moyes.

With the playing squad now in a good position, the manager needs a long-term coaching staff behind him to help implement his ideas.

This could prove to be vital in ensuring Moyes’ and Dan Friedkin’s vision comes to light.

Hopefully, for any future staff appointments, Everton will make sure that the coaches actually want to be at the Toffees and won’t look to move elsewhere when a new offer comes in.
