Tyler Dibling faces a tough battle to get into the Everton starting line-up.

The 19-year-old is behind new Everton favourite Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye in the pecking order at the moment.

Dibling may be a backup for Everton, coming off the bench and making an impact on occasion as he tries to force the others out of David Moyes' team.

Dibling has the potential to be a star at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but he may have to wait for the chance to show it.

Tyler Dibling stars away from Everton with England

Dibling was Everton's alternative to Malick Fofana, after they failed with an attempt to sign the Belgian.

That may ultimately work out in their favour, if the ex-Southampton man continues his rapid rise to stardom.

Dibling featured in England Under-21s' 2-0 win over Kazakhstan Under-21s and recorded an assist on Monday, with Jobe Bellingham heading home from a corner.

He was fouled four times, completed two of his five attempted dribbles, and made one key pass in the contest.

He was particularly impressive from a defensive standpoint, as he won nine duels and made three tackles, per Sofascore.

David Moyes will love Tyler Dibling's defensive presence

Moyes wants his wingers to be active defensively, to help win the ball back and take his side forward.

That is arguably an element of his game that is keeping Dibling out of the starting line-up at the moment, but after his latest performance, that could change.

  • Dibling is the third-choice winger at the moment
  • Notched two goals and no assists in the Premier League last season
  • Only Everton appearance so far was in the Carabao Cup win over Mansfield Town

If Dibling continues to show an impressive defensive workrate, then the Scotsman will have no choice but to select him from the start more often.

The former Saints star needs to improve his final decision in front of the goal, too, but the showing on international duty will definitely encourage Moyes.

It may end up doing wonders for his chance of landing a starting berth, sooner rather than later, after his £35million move to Merseyside.
