Everton stars have continued to shine away from Merseyside in the latest international break.

The Toffees have multiple players away with their countries, with the World Cup qualifiers currently taking place.

While Jake O’Brien did not produce the best display for the Republic of Ireland, Iliman Ndiaye found more luck with Senegal.

The attacker was a major player in their late 3-2 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in their World Cup qualifiers, and the 25-year-old has been praised for his role.

Iliman Ndiaye ‘undoubtedly the man of the match’ in Senegal victory

Ndiaye has had a good start to the season under David Moyes.

The winger has already netted twice in the Premier League, contributing to both of the Toffees’ victories.

Ndiaye was particularly good against Wolves, netting the visitors’ second in the 3-2 victory.

Now, it appears this form has continued away from Everton, with the winger heavily praised for his performance in Senegal’s 3-2 victory.

Wiw Sport on 10 September gave Ndiaye a 7/10 for the display, labelling it as “exemplary”.

  • Ndiaye joined Everton in 2024 from Marseille
  • The winger netted nine Premier League goals in his first season
  • Ndiaye is already on track to better this in the current campaign

It said: “No goals or assists, but he was undoubtedly the man of the match. The Everton winger perfectly showed his teammates the way forward.

“Immediately in the right rhythm, he made life hell for Arthur Masuaku and the entire Congolese defence.

“Mobile, available, inspired, and devastating in his dribbling, he tried hard. Impeccable in his behaviour, he fought hard to recover. An exemplary performance.”

How did Idrissa Gueye perform for Senegal?

The midfielder has also heavily featured for Everton this season despite his age.

The 2025/26 campaign could well be Gueye’s last at Everton after signing a one-year contract in the summer.

Nevertheless, the midfielder continues to perform at the top stage in both club and international competitions.

  • Gueye has consistently impressed at Everton
  • The midfielder won both the Players' Player and the Everton Player of the Season awards last campaign
  • Gueye signed a new contract with the option of another year in the summer

However, against the Democratic Republic of Congo, the midfielder did not have his usual impact.

Wiw Sport gave Gueye a 5/10 rating in a below-par display.

It read: “Starting after being benched against Sudan, the Lions veteran didn't have his usual impact.

“We didn't find his XXL volume of play and his overreaching, which have given him a sort of second youth over the past few months.

“Too far from his opponents in his zone, he suffered the battles by dropping back very deep. And even in his build-up, he was inaccurate.

Thankfully, both Gueye and Ndiaye avoided any injuries and will return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium ready for another huge game against Aston Villa next time out.
