David Moyes told he has ‘unbelievable’ Everton talent as youngster continues to shine

Everton will be tracking the progress of several young players who will spend this season out on loan.

Harrison Armstrong was left on the bench for Preston North End on Saturday, but did come on in the second half to make his debut.

Everton loaned Tyler Onyango to Stockport County on transfer deadline day, and the midfielder has since started both of the Hatters’ last two matches.

David Moyes’ squad is not the deepest, but the Scot is keen to allow Everton’s youngsters to enjoy regular first-team football as they look to continue their development.

Isaac Heath scored on his Accrington Stanley debut, and the winger has continued to thrive with the League Two club.

Heath had impressed in pre-season for Everton, following a season which earned him the Under-21 player of the season award with the Toffees.

But decision-makers at the Hill Dickinson Stadium ultimately deemed it more beneficial for the winger to earn his first experience of consistent first-team minutes out on loan.

Accrington Stanley won the race, and the 20-year-old has made a huge impression in his opening games for the Reds.

A goal and an assist came in his debut against Fleetwood Town, before his League Two debut saw him produce a spirited performance against Cheltenham Town despite his team’s narrow loss.

Heath was impressive again on Saturday as Accrington Stanley beat Colchester United, and his manager was hugely complimentary.

“We had chance after chance,” John Doolan told the Accrington Stanley media team on Saturday.

“I think we won every first contact, we picked up every second ball, we got the ball wide into the areas we wanted to get into with Isaac Heath, who is an unbelievable talent.”

Everton will keep close eye on Isaac Heath

The biggest issue facing young talents making their step into first-team football is often the shift in physicality.

As talented as any player can be, it can take some adapting to hold off the challenge of a grown man when your experience has largely been limited to teenagers.

But Heath has had no such problems with the change, and Everton will be keeping a close eye on his development in League Two.

If the winger continues to thrive, decision-makers at the Hill Dickinson Stadium may deem it fit to send him to League One in the second half of the season.
