Wayne Rooney is firmly on Everton's side ahead of the clash with Liverpool, but the same cannot be said for his wife, Coleen.

Rooney is beloved by Everton supporters after his two stints at the club, and he believes that the Toffees can pull off a result when the sides meet at Anfield.

David Moyes has a miserable record against Liverpool, in his spells with the Blues, West Ham, Sunderland and Manchester United.

However, he will be confident that his Everton side have the tools to beat the Reds when they meet on 20 September.

Coleen Rooney shares new Liverpool image after reveal

Speaking on the Wayne Rooney podcast on September 19, he said: "When Liverpool won the Premier League a few years ago, I came home, I was at Derby at the time, and Coleen's got Liverpool flags up outside the house.

"It was our old house, so outside the front door, there's a little balcony thing, and the flag was outside the window there, so I told her to go and get it down.

"She went up and you had to actually climb out the window to get it down, so she went up, and I locked her out."

Coleen has now shared an image of the flag ahead of the encounter between the two sides, which will only stoke up tensions in their household.

Everton can leave Coleen Rooney miserable in Liverpool clash

Evertonians will hope that Coleen is left feeling down after the final whistle and their side can get the right result, one which has eluded them since Carlo Ancelotti's side won 2-0 in 2021.

Moyes and Co. will be confident that they can end his Anfield hoodoo, especially with the likes of Jack Grealish, Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in great form heading into the clash.

  • Moyes has faced the Reds at their home on 22 different occasions
  • He has never won, with seven draws and 15 losses
  • Moyes' side lost 1-0 last season in the April encounter

Arne Slot's side have had to rely on late winners in all of their Premier League matches so far, so the Toffees will feel like they have a chance to make history for their manager.

The Reds are there for the taking if the Blues can get their game plan right, and they have the weapons to do so.

Whether they can, and leave Wayne with the bragging rights over his wife, remains to be seen.
