David Moyes can do something for the first time in his career when Everton face West Ham

David Moyes will hope to make personal history when Everton face off against West Ham at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.

Everton lost 2-0 to Wolves in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and are hoping to avoid registering three consecutive losses after also losing to Liverpool last week.

Jarrad Branthwaite is expected to start against West Ham, with the defender finally set to return from a lengthy injury layoff.

The England international had been expected to feature against Wolves, but was ultimately left out of the squad.

Everton are favourites to beat West Ham, with the visitors winning just one of their opening six matches to start the season.

David Moyes has never beaten Graham Potter

Moyes could get Graham Potter sacked if Everton beat West Ham on Monday, with the game set to prove key in any decision made by the board at the London Stadium.

The former Brighton boss only arrived in January, just two days before Moyes was re-hired by the Toffees, but the two could not have had a more different 10 months since.

The Hammers finished the season five points behind Everton, and already face a four-point deficit to the Scot’s side this season so far.

But Potter actually holds a psychological advantage over Moyes in the fact that the West Ham boss has never lost in a competitive game to the Premier League veteran.

The two have faced off in the dugout on eight different occasions – six in which Potter managed Brighton, one in which he managed Chelsea, and one with West Ham.

Moyes was the manager of the Hammers for seven of the eight clashes, with the most recent – March last season – ending level.

Six of the matches ended level, and none have ended scoreless, with Brighton’s 2-0 away win at the London Stadium in 2022 providing the only instance of one team keeping a clean sheet.

David Moyes must put an end to dismal Graham Potter record

There has never been a better time for Moyes to put his record against Potter to bed.

The Scot has the tools at his disposal to put his former club to the sword, and should do so given the fragility of the Hammers’ defence.

Potter’s sacking now seems inevitable and Moyes could well hold the hammer, with it poised over the final nail in the coffin.
