David Moyes has secret weapon against West Ham, it could be key to Everton victory

Everton are set to host West Ham on Monday at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees are determined to get back to winning ways after losing back-to-back games in all competitions.

While Everton are said to be favourites against West Ham, it does not mean that a victory is guaranteed.

However, one important aspect of the Toffees’ play could tip the balance in their favour as they look to pile on the misery for Graham Potter.

West Ham are awful at defending set pieces

It has already been established that Everton have been fantastic from set-pieces this season.

While the Toffees have not been scoring their chances from dead balls, they have still accumulated the second-highest xG of any team in the Premier League this season.

Now, their efficiency from set-pieces may pay off on Monday when they take on West Ham.

According to Opta on 25 September, West Ham have conceded the most xG when defending set-pieces in the Premier League this campaign.

This currently sits at 3.45 xG, which has resulted in five goals hitting the back of West Ham’s net.

Therefore, if this trend continues, Everton have a great chance of scoring off a dead ball on Monday, which could easily determine the result of the tie.

Thierno Barry to get first Everton goal against West Ham?

Thierno Barry has struggled for Everton since joining in the summer.

However, Monday’s game presents the striker with an excellent chance to end his goalless streak at the Merseyside club.

Given the Hammers’ current form and Barry’s ability in the air, set-pieces are likely his best hope of getting a goal.

Hopefully, this happens for the striker, so he can finally get his Everton career up and running.
