Everton face a West Ham side that will have the 'new manager bounce' on Monday evening.

The Hammers sacked Graham Potter and replaced him with Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of the Everton clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton boss Moyes has praised the Portuguese manager in the past, as his Nottingham Forest side secured their highest Premier League finish since 1995.

The Scotsman will hope to inflict a loss on the new Irons boss in his first game in charge on 29 September, and there is encouragement that he can.

Nuno's record in his first games will give Everton hope

Moyes had never beaten Potter in a competitive match with Everton, or any of his other teams, but he has a much better record against Espirito Santo.

He has won four of the seven matches when the two managers have faced off against each other, and he will be confident that he can do so again.

Nuno has a mixed record when managing his first game in charge of a club, with four wins, one draw and two losses, which could give the Blues a boost.

Everton may not be worried about new manager bounce

The term 'new manager bounce' is used when a team starts performing better and picking up results when they change their boss.

However, it may not apply in this case, as the Hammers have been miserable, and Espirito Santo has a lot of work to do with this team.

Nuno's record in his first game:

  • Rio Ave: 1-0 loss to CS Maritimo
  • Valencia: 1-1 draw with Sevilla
  • Porto: 3-1 win over Rio Ave
  • Wolves: 1-0 win over Middlesbrough
  • Tottenham: 1-0 win over Man City
  • Al-Ittihad: 3-0 win over Al-Adalah FC
  • Nottingham Forest: 3-2 loss to Bournemouth

Of course, players want to impress their new manager, and secure their place in his side, but apart from Jarrod Bowen, the East Londoners have been dismal.

The E20 outfit may have a bit of extra incentive, but it would be a huge ask for Nuno to implement his tactical plan and changes in the first game in charge against the Toffees.
