Jordan Pickford’s top five England moments as Everton star set to break Gordon Banks record
Jordan Pickford has established himself as England’s number one while at Everton.
The goalkeeper has put together a series of excellent performances for the Three Lions in recent years, which has helped them progress far in tournaments.
As a result, it comes as no surprise that Everton want to renew Pickford’s contract, with the keeper proving to be sensational both domestically and internationally.
With Pickford looking to break Gordon Banks’ record for the consecutive England clean sheets on Thursday, Goodison News has looked back at the goalkeeper’s most memorable moments in a Three Lions jersey.

Penalty hero vs Colombia
Back in the 2018 World Cup, England looked to finally end their penalty curse when they faced Colombia in the final.
Pickford had already had a great match up until this point, making a series of excellent saves to take the match to a shootout.
Amid a tense round of 16 tie, the goalkeeper stepped up to be the hero, saving Carlos Bacca’s penalty before Eric Dier slotted in the winning spot-kick.
As a result, England would achieve a memorable tournament, reaching the semi-finals thanks to Pickford.
Man of the match display against Sweden
Going into the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, England faced Sweden in what would prove to be a difficult test.
After a great start which saw Harry Maguire put the Three Lions ahead, Pickford was called upon numerous times to ensure the scoreline remained in England’s favour.
The goalkeeper was forced to produce saves from Marcus Berg and Viktor Claesson to keep England ahead.

With the Three Lions eventually winning 2-0, Pickford was rewarded with the Man of the Match award for his display.
Jordan Pickford ensured England victory over Germany
Fast forward to the 2020 European Championships, and Pickford arguably had his best tournament for England to date.
With the Three Lions set to face Germany at Wembley in the round of 16, with Gareth Southgate’s side keen to finally get one over their continental rivals.

Unable to break the deadlock early on, Pickford produced two stunning saves in both halves from Timo Werner and Kai Havertz’s efforts.
This proved to be the difference maker as England eventually won 2-0 thanks to two late goals.
Outstanding saves vs Senegal in 2022 World Cup
England’s last outing in the World Cup was less memorable. Despite an outstanding first few games, they were eventually knocked out by France in the quarter-finals.
However, it could have been sooner if not for Pickford.
Despite England eventually beating Senegal 3-0 in the round of 16, it was a nervy opening, with the goalkeeper forced to produce multiple stunning saves to keep the scoreline level.
His stop from Boulaye Dia was a particular highlight, and if not for his performance, the Three Lions could have crashed out then and there.
Further Pickford penalty heroics in Switzerland quarter-final
In Euro 2024, Pickford once again repeated his penalty heroics against Switzerland.
After the game ended 1-1, England needed their goalkeeper to step up in the shootout, and he once again delivered.
Pickford saved Manuel Akanji’s spot-kick early on for England, which proved to be the difference.
As a result, England would eventually progress into the final, with the Everton keeper having another excellent tournament.
