Everton and Liverpool join forces to make Merseyside history on Saturday
Everton and Liverpool may be fierce rivals, but the two sides both contributed to history on Saturday.
Everton travel to face Sunderland on Monday night, with David Moyes looking to inflict a third league defeat on his former club.
In the meantime, Liverpool will welcome Aston Villa to Anfield on Saturday night, with hopes of picking up their first Premier League win since September.
However, despite the Toffees not being in action on Saturday, they will still be playing their part in a historic day for the city.

Everton host Ashes at Hill Dickinson Stadium
One of the main draws behind Everton’s move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium was their ability to host other major events, whether that be sports fixtures or concerts.
On Saturday, the Hill Dickinson Stadium played host to England’s clash with Australia in the Second Test of the first Ashes series with a sold-out crowd.
That, added to Liverpool’s clash with Villa, means that Saturday was the first time since 1981 that both Merseyside clubs have hosted a major event with crowds.
It will be a momentous occasion for Merseyside, though likely to be a logistical nightmare when it comes to travel and policing.

Everton must mark historic weekend with win vs Sunderland
Moyes’ record against Sunderland speaks volumes about what Everton fans should expect on Monday night, with the Black Cats ready to inflict their own revenge on the man who got them relegated eight years ago.
After nine games, Sunderland have picked up 17 points, which is a tally that has them inside the top four at the time of writing, and six points above the Toffees.

Regis Le Bris’ side enter the clash full of momentum off the back of their 2-1 win away to Chelsea, while Everton have two defeats in a row to bounce back from.
Everton may be favourites on Monday night, but it promises to be a close yet exciting encounter at the Stadium of Light.
