Everton to go all out for Nathan Ake transfer as Manchester City star pushes for January exit
Everton may get the chance to exploit Nathan Ake’s desire to leave Manchester City in the January window.
The centre-back has started just one Premier League game under Pep Guardiola so far this season, having been a crucial part of the team that won the Champions League back in 2022-23.
Everton are closing on the signing of Kojo Peprah Oppong, and the door is open for Ake to become another potential addition at the heart of the defence.
David Moyes has shown a keen interest in the Dutchman in the past, and he may now get the perfect chance to secure his signature this winter.

Everton need to go all out to seal Nathan Ake transfer
Everton were linked with a move for Ake during the summer window, but they ultimately couldn’t get a deal to materialise.
However, that could easily become a totally different story this time around, as the defender has now made it clear that he wants to leave the Etihad Stadium in January, according to CaughtOffside.
The 30-year-old is hopeful of a move to secure more gametime ahead of next summer’s World Cup, and there is already a queue forming for him ahead of the window.
- Ake has won the Premier League title six times
- He has also tasted Champions League glory and has 56 caps for the Netherlands
- The 30-year-old can also play at left-back
Crystal Palace are understood to view Ake as an ideal replacement for Marc Guehi, while there is also continental interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.
Given the interest at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the summer, it is surely a no-brainer for Everton to try and force their way into the conversation as well.
Jarrad Branthwaite’s injury has left Moyes badly short of options in the backline, and the City star would also be a cost-effective option, at potentially as little as £26million.
A centre-half feels like a must for the Toffees in January, and there will be few on the market with as much Premier League experience as Ake.
However, given the existing interest, they will have to go all out if they want to win the race for him.
Nathan Ake would be second to Seamus Coleman at Everton for this stat
Ake’s wealth of Premier League experience is understandably a major attraction for the current interested parties.
The former Bournemouth defender has played 240 top-flight games across his career, and that level of experience would stand him among esteemed company if he did move to Merseyside.
Seamus Coleman is the only outfield player in the current Everton squad who can better that total, and as a result, Ake could play a vital role in helping to positively influence some of the younger members of Moyes’ group.
It is not yet clear whether the Toffees will reignite their interest, but there would certainly be plenty of positives to a move for Ake.
